The Grindmaster-Cecilware company was formed as the result of a corporate merger in 2009. However, as separate companies, both experienced their inception several generations earlier.
In 1911 Cecilware was formed by the Cecil Brothers in Long Island, New York. They specialized in manufacturing equipment for the food service industry.
Twenty two years later, in 1933, Richard Schumman was developing a revolutionary method of grinding coffee. This was the beginning of the Grindmaster Corporation.
Two Companies With One Vision
Both companies have been dedicated to company growth and developing ground-breaking products. In 1963 Cecilware developed the first fully-automatic coffee urn known as the FE100. By 1975, Grindmaster was showing off their new never-before-seen designs for space-saving, user-friendly coffee grinders.
When the two companies merged in the early nineties, it was an explosion of high-energy growth, ground-breaking innovative designs, and technologies that would forever change the coffee service industry.
