The core of the Coffee Makers USA company has been in existence since just after the new millennium.
However, in 2014, after thirteen successful years in business, founder Paul Ballenger decided the time was right for a new start. He and his former company underwent a complete re-branding. The result was Coffee Makers USA.
Business: A Family Tradition
The entrepreneurial spirit has been in the Ballenger family for generations. Paul’s grandfather had started two successful businesses. His father was also a profitable business owner. That passion for self-employment was etched deep in Paul’s soul.
Having the desire to start a business is one thing. Knowing the business you want to start is another. I decided to buy a small business with the idea that I could grow it instead of starting from scratch. Since I had a passion for the coffee service industry, I bought a small instant cappuccino distribution company.” -P. Ballenger
However, Paul had much bigger plans for his new company.
Route Sales To Nationwide Sales
When he bought the cappuccino distribution company, it mainly consisted of local route sales. He made his living by making daily stops at convenient stores, doughnut shops, restaurants, churches, and military bases.
However, for a young entrepreneur with ambitious goals, route sales can be tedious and inefficient.
He knew there had to be a better way. There had to be a bigger way.
When Paul bought the company in 2001, the consumer landscape was much different than it is now. Internet sales had not yet become as popular as they would in the years to come. But he was smart enough to recognize the power of web-based sales and having a strong internet presence.
So Paul built a small website and began selling his merchandise online. He quickly saw his customer base grow from a few local city blocks to destinations across the United States. He knew he had found the biggest and best way to grow his business.
Soon, his internet sales were outpacing his local route sales. Paul sold his van and adopted the internet as his sole selling platform.
A Nationwide Distributor
As online demand increased he was able to add more products and variety to his catalog.
Paul quickly grew his modest local-based business into a nationwide distributor of high quality coffee and coffee-related products.
