Fetco makes two model lines of hot water dispensers – the Touch-Operated HWD models and both the Touchscreen and Pull-Handle HWB models.
What’s the difference?
Let’s discuss.
A Little History
In the Beginning
Back in the old days, as in maybe about 5 years ago, Fetco only carried HWB models – the HWB-2, HWB-5, HWB-10, etc. These models were hot water boilers that heated water up to about 200 F to be dispensed for use in French presses and for making teas, soups, gravies, sauces, pastas, potatoes, etc. The boilers looked a bit industrial and were designed for use back in the kitchen somewhere.
A New Day Dawns
In 2011, Fetco introduced the new line of HWD models, some of which (the TOD versions) were revolutionary in that they could quickly produce hot water at 4 different pre-set temperatures. They were stylishly designed for use in the front of the house in self-serve situations, and they quickly upped the game in the world of hot water dispensers.
In the last few years, Fetco followed the introduction of the HWD models by updated the HWB line by adding newly-designed models like the HWB-2105 and HWB-2110. The larger, more industrial “pull faucet” HWB models like the HWB-15 and HWB-25 essentially stayed the same.
So, What’s the Difference Between the HWB’s and HWD’s?
Well, here we go:
The HWD Touch-Operated Hot Water Dispensers
These hot water dispensers come in sizes ranging from 2 gallons to 10 gallons.
- Temperature – there are two versions of the HWD machines – single temperature and touch-on-demand (TOD). The TOD machines can quickly dispense hot water at up to 4 different temperatures. The temperatures can be easily set from the front panel.
- Touch Panel – everything can be controlled from the front panel.
- Sleek Design – deigned for use in front-of-house.
- Touch Dispensing – water is dispensed by touching a button.
- Silicone Tap – designed to protect glass and ceramic from breaking or chipping when dispensing.
- Drip Tray – the drip tray comes with a float indicator.
The HWB Touchscreen Hot Water Dispensers
The HWB-2100 series comes in 5 and 10 gallon models. They come with a touchscreen and a pull handle.
- Pull Handle – uses a traditional pull handle for dispensing hot water.
- Silicone Tap – designed to protect glass and ceramic from breaking or chipping when dispensing.
- Touchscreen Display – everything can be easily controlled from the high-resolution display on the front of machine.
- Design – design is sleek, yet rugged, allowing for use in either kitchen or front-of-house.
- Energy Efficient – sides and top are well insulated to prevent loss of heat.
The HWB Pull Faucet Hot Water Dispensers
These larger, industrial machines come in 15 and 25 gallon models.
- Pull Handle – uses a traditional pull handle for dispensing hot water.
- Powerful – designed to produce lots of hot water quickly.
- Rugged – stainless steel construction protects machine while making it easy to clean.
- Energy Efficient – insulation on sides and top keeps heat from escaping and keeps the outside cool.
- Simple to Use – a ready light indicates when water has reached desired temperature.
- Controlled Refill – water refill can be controlled to manage recovery time during peak hours.
